How is the course developed?

LEON MARINO DIVING CENTER we are the only diving center in Tarifa that has achieved the excellence of DIAMOND CENTER, which Scuba School International grants to diving schools that are characterized by the highest level in terms of facilities, diving material and training of their staff. instructors. Online theory

You can do the theory online
comfortably in your home and when it is finished, we will specify the dates for the practices in the water.

We can also do the theory part in our classroom with an instructor. We will learn how to do safety exercises in the water.

If you do not have your SSI profile, you can create it here or we will create it for you.

Sessions

We will start in an area with very shallow depth (a place where we can stand) to get used to the equipment and we will do some exercises to know how to solve problems and gain confidence with diving. We will learn to float in the water and share air with a partner.
From there, we will evolve a little deeper to a maximum of 12 meters deep.

Certification

With all this and the final exam, you will obtain your BASIC DIVER diving certification. This certification lasts six months, then you would have to do the safety exercises again before your open sea dive, to consolidate the safety rules.

This certification also serves as credit for the Open Water Diver course if you start it within 6 months.

Previous requirements

The minimum age to participate in the Basic Diver course is 10 years old.
It is also essential to know how to swim and be in good physical shape.

Course duration

This course can be done in a single day.

We will first do basic exercises in a low water area, before going to the open sea.
The minimum training time in open water is 30 minutes, but it is normal for us to do at least one hour in the water. We can also go slower and do the first part, with little water in the morning and the open water immersion in the afternoon.

We collaborate and provide logistical support to the OCTOPUS association for the conservation of the seabed of Tarifa Island.

OCTOPUS TARIFA is a non-profit association that is interested in the conservation of the seabed of the Island of Tarifa, which is within the Strait of Gibraltar Natural Park.
In addition to beach cleanups and awareness talks at schools, we monitor the bottom of the island daily with the support of LEONMARINO and its divers, collecting plastics and abandoned fishing gear and reporting any incident observed to the Natural Park.
